Ethiopia

Colin and Ellen Jackson spent two years working with VSO in Debre Birhan, Ethiopia. They formed a link with Addis Kidan Baptist Church while they were there. On their return the church at Woodbridge decided to sponsor 30 needy children through the Addis Kidan church.

Then in 2010 nine WQC members, including Colin and Ellen Jackson, went on a visit see how the work was going and to take out gifts, clothes and money. They are pictured above with the children who we support.

Support for Melaku Muluneh

Woodbridge Quay Church is giving some financial assistance to Melaku Muluneh while he studies at Mekane Yesus Leadership and Management College. Melaku is taking a 3 year Leadership and Development course at the end of which he plans to do a one year Management course at the same college. Each summer he is taking Theology classes at Evangelicals Theological College and in September 2015 he will study Theology full time to complete his degree. His goal is to have completed the courses by December 2016.

Melaku is married to Bekelech and they have two children; a daughter, Maereg, age 6 and a son, Tewoflose, age 2. Their family home is in Debra Birhan. Whilst Melaku is studying he is living in Addis Ababa.

Cameroon

Helps International (HINT) Cameroon is a Christian charity whose mission is to improve the social and economic well-being and health of the poor and under privileged in our society through education, skill development and job creation.

Michael and Margaret Astbury have visited HINT while their daughter, Heather, was volunteering with them.

WQC currently supports HINT in three ways -
- We have provided funding for the a programme to provide school books for poorer families
- One of our House Groups sponsors some children, see below.
- The House Group has also supported HINT's Children For God initiative.

Below are photos of Naomi, Rodrigue, Ngowoh, Tiku, Mariya and Clovis, the children that we are sponsoring.
